The Cape Winelands is brimming with wonderful restaurants, and Franschhoek has long staked its claim as the culinary capital of the region. If there’s a downside – especially for locals – it’s that it doesn’t come cheap.

Which makes the new EAT SLEEP DRINK initiative from the Franschhoek Wine Valley all the more welcome as winter settles in across the Cape.

And the concept is simple. From June 14-28 restaurants, hotels and guesthouses will offer a range of discounts to curious epicureans. It’s the first year that this initiative is taking place, but it looks set to become an annual event.

There are 11 restaurants taking part across the Valley, offering discounts of up to R300 per person! They include casual eateries through to fine-dining icons of the Winelands:

  • Arkeste
  • Café du Vin
  • Franks Corner
  • French Connection
  • La Petite Colombe
  • Epice
  • Chefs Warehouse at Maison
  • Le Bon Vivant
  • L’Orangerie
  • Ōku
  • Reubens

Online bookings open on May 1, and are available exclusively for dinner, and subject to availability. Tables are likely to sell out fast, so get your booking in early!

Want to stay the night? Alongside the restaurants there are 17 participating hotels and guesthouses, all offering a 20 percent discount on direct bookings made during the same fortnight.

So while the wintry weather may be winding up in the Cape, there’s good reason to get out and explore (and eat and drink) the Franschhoek Valley this June.

Luke Dale Roberts is dishing up some incredible prix fixe deals too!
