Unique designs for the style-aware with Kawai Wong

Fashion:

Naturally urban
Ccchu, HK’s answer to Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake, has arrived at Sheung Wan’s Signed-By. The label’s spring/summer 2012 collection uses 90 percent organic and recycled fabrics, and the flowing, irregular lines were designed to ‘balance the antagonistic nature of urban living’. G/F, 43 Tung St, Sheung Wan, 2517 8900.

New boutique:

Not potatoes
Kouch, an extension to the award-winning lifestyle boutique Konzepp, has recently opened its doors for shoppers to snap up some sophisticated, edgy lifestyle goods and for the creative-minded to come in and share ideas. 12 Tai Ping Shan St, Sheung Wan. Opens Mon-Sun, 1pm-10pm.

Jewellery:

In a spin
Parsons School of Design graduate Yael Sonia’s contemporary jewellery is on exhibition from now until May 1. Her ‘spinning wheel’ necklace comes from her award-winning Perpetual Motion Collection. AME Gallery, 12/F, Tin On Shing Bldg, 41 Graham St, Central, 3564 8066; www.ame-gallery.com.

Designer beverage:

Getting glassed
Fellow haute couturiers Christian Lacroix and Jean Paul Gaultier have recently tapped into the world of beverage design. Gaultier’s diet Coke bottle has a curvaceous shape featuring a corset and Lacroix’s Kronenbourg 1664 pint glass is printed with the designer’s drawing. The latter glassware design is on exhibition from now until May 20 at Fashion Walk, Paterson St, Causeway Bay.

Accessories:

Join the club
Street-style photographer Tommy Ton (www.jakandjil.com) has launched a range of bags with Club Monaco retailing between $1,950 and $2,250. G/F, New World Tower 2, 16-18 Queen’s Rd Central, Central, 2118 2987.

Web:

Shopping the net
This internet fashion haven, which stocks the likes of Ohne Titel (above), Yigal Azrouel and Gwen Stefani’s label L.A.M.B, has officially launched in HK. The biggest appeal of this online boutique is that it stocks a lot of labels that are hitherto unavailable in Hong Kong. www.shopbop.com.

News:

Dior straits
The ex-Jil Sander designer Raf Simons has succeeded Galliano as Christian Dior’s artistic director. The French fashion house has opted for the minimalist Belgian designer to replace Galliano, who’s known for his maximalist approach to fashion. Simons will present his first collection for Dior this July.
