All I know... Raphael Mazzucco
Photographer Raphael Mazzucco has shot everybody and everything from Adrien Brody and Bernicio Del Toro to Guess Jeans and Victoria Secret campaigns. His book Culo saw the likes of Lady Gaga, Nicole Scherzinger and Alessandra Ambrosio posing sensually for him in nothing but their derrieres. At Art Basel Miami, Damien Hirst purchased Mazzucco’s displayed collection in its entirety. The photographer recently showed his latest series of works, ‘Layered’, at the Space in Hong Kong.
I gravitate towards… luscious, alluring women.
The female form… is one of the most beautiful forms and one of the things we have left in this world that are really incredible. I just think it’s very honest, real and free-flowing.
Taking a picture is… not preordaining too much. The magic happens like sleeping and dreaming – it takes you somewhere and you don’t know where it’s taking you.
One of my first photos was… The Jackie. At the time I couldn’t really focus well on the lens. Later I found out that the lens was broken which made the photograph very soft. A lot of the time it’s the mistake that makes them beautiful. I almost always try to make a lot of mistakes to make the magic happen.
Sensuality is… romantic, beautiful, organic, raw and feminine. I can almost see it as a simplistic thing. Not too much and not too little.
I want to wake up and… always be painting and manipulating images and creating beautiful art. I’m so not a tortured artist at all. With my art I give people positivity and energy and light and peace and happiness and all that stuff.
Keanu Reeves is in town… and I shot him on Friday. For fun.
