Chez Patrick stunned neighbors when the fine French diner first opened on the same block as the Central wet market. Nobody thought anyone would pay top dollar in a neighbourhood where alley cats owned the streets. But the restaurant prevailed and audaciously opened its second outlet in Wan Chai, near a waste depot. Gallic class. Meal for one without wine and service: around $700
