Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

GreenWoods Raw Café is Hong Kong’s first-ever café to serve raw food only, based on the concept that raw ingredients have the most nutritional value. So at this new TST joint, nothing is heated above 41 degrees Celsius.

Only open at lunch (and for dinner by reservation on Saturday), GreenWoods offers simple set menus, all priced at $148, with one for those who are looking for a heavier meal, one a little lighter.

Both start with the house speciality Green Smoothie – a luscious concoction of banana, spinach and pear – followed by a plate of organic green salad and vegan salmon tartare, made with mashed carrots, nuts and sea vegetables atop cubed avocados. The bigger set also includes homemade flax seed crackers and two freshly made hand-rolls, spread with banana and walnut paste to give that sweet kick and filled with seasonal vegetables. The lighter set finishes with a vibrant-looking seaweed with bean sprouts, sprinkled with almond seeds.

The offerings at GreenWoods are certainly nutritious, and the dishes bring a creative approach to fruit and vegetable pairings, but the limited menu and the café’s niche concept threaten to make this new resto more novelty than a regular go-to for the health-conscious. Apple Mandy
