This charming French restaurant is located on a quiet street that can be a sanctuary away from the bustle of Central. Sample a three-course menu ($550) of duck foie gras terrine with sauternes and dry fig chutney followed by confit duck leg in porcini sauce. La Marmite
Dine in a chic setting while enjoying classic French fare selected off the daily blackboard of specials. Selections change nightly but may include dishes such as Arcachon oysters with butter radishes ($150), roast tenderloin with red cabbage in Bordeaux wine sauce ($268), casserole of mussels ($138) and poached figs with beet and figs sauce ($68). 46 Staunton St, Soho, 2803 7808.

Pierre
Monsieur Pierre Gagnaire flies in to his two-starred Michelin restaurant to launch a special preview of his French GourMay menu this fortnight. He’ll be here until May 1 to present the extensive tasting menu, which features the freshest, seasonal ingredients. Try duck liver terrine and pear flavoured with Espelette chillies or oyster broth with Graves white wine. The eight-course preview meal is priced at $1,688 and is available until May 1. The five-course, Bordeaux-inspired, French GourMay menu runs from May 1 to May 31 and is priced at $1,188. 25/F, Mandarin Oriental, 5 Connaught Rd, Central, 2825 4001.

Whisk
This celebrated restaurant, located within the fabulous Mira Hotel, offers contemporary European cuisine in a tranquil and sophisticated atmosphere. Sink your teeth into the tourteau crab remoulade, escargot ragout, sturgeon with celeriac and raisin, and lamb rump served with coco beans and black olives, along with other delectable dishes. The six-course menu is priced at $1,088 per person with wine pairings available for a supplementary $480. 5/F, The Mira, 118 Nathan Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2315 5999.
