Booze clues: Luxor Champagne
Since the dawn of time, or shortly thereafter, Champagne has been associated with glamour, wealth and the finer things in life. But there’s a thin line between elitism and madness, and it seems that several new brands of bubbly are beginning to tread that precarious, privileged frontier. Luxor is one such beverage – a sparkling booze that astonishingly contains 24 carat gold leaves floating in its deliciousness. Yep – actual gold.
Apparently, celebs have been lapping up this Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier blend in Europe’s hotspots. We’ve also been told that gold has a surfeit of medicinal qualities such as helping one’s mental capacity, organ regeneration, relieving arthritis and even acting as an aphrodisiac. Of course, that’s probably not the reason you’ve shelled out a few thousand bucks on this bottle. It’s more likely that you’ve been lured by the prospect – or the power – of wielding that legendary Midas touch.
