Hong Kong's best... Thai
Café Siam
This old horse turns out classic Western-Thai dishes, such as curries (red, yellow, green) and beautiful salads. Good for crowds as they’ve got family style dining tables upstairs. 40-42 Lyndhurst Tce, Central, 2851 4803.
Chilli N Spice
This chain deliveries consistent and hardy Thai fare. We especially like the Stanley branch because of its colonial setting, and seaside views. 101 Murray House, Stanley, 2899 0147.
Good Luck Thai Food
Most likely you were ushered here by one of their hustlers on D’Aguilar Sreet. But don’t fight it, the food is good. Indeed, grease and beer never tasted better. 13 Wing Wah Lane, Lan Kwai Fong, Central, 2877 2971.
Friendship Thai
This humble house serves up a mean Thai menu – with heat. The chefs don’t care what spicy level you can take, they just make it the way they do at home. 38 Kai Tak Rd, Kowloon City, 2382 8671.
Lotus
Thai and Aussie food clash in this uber-glam dining spot. Adding to the chaos, they also serve Thai inspired dim sum menu on weekends. 5 Staunton St, Soho, 2543 6290.
Thai Hut
There’s about five seats here, but don’t let size fool you. This all-nighter is a haven for all those craving fantastic curries at 3am. G/F, 87-91 Luard Rd, Wan Chai, 2866 8528.
Thai Orchids
This Thai chain does it a little softer than in Thailand. The curries might be creamier, the salads sweeter, and their desserts a mangle of Chinese and Thai inventions – but it’s a great spot to take virgin tongues. Three branches; www.thaiorchidshk.com.
Tuk Tuk Thai
We love this place for its low-key awesome food, and cheap as hell prices. So what if their lamps are from Ikea, so are yours. 30 Graham St, Central, 2542 2760.
