Want a little opera singing with your ma po tofu? We’re disappointed they’ve toned down the spice levels, but at least now it’s suitable for all ages. Just remember, it ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings. 49 Hollywood Rd, Central, 2559 1317. $275 per person for set menu.

Golden Valley
You can smell the chillies in the air even before you enter this basement restaurant, where they’re best known for their crazy-hot hotpot set. They also serve chicken with 1,000 chillies which you just have to try. 1 Wang Tak St, Happy Valley, 2961 3330. $600.

SiJie Sichuan Dishes
