Cipriani
This private members’ club features fine Italian cuisine fit for the city’s CEOs. Look around and you’ll find various paintings draping the crème coloured walls. Choose from a variety of entrées including homemade, lightly baked tagliolini with ham and veal farfalle with lemon sauce, which sounds delicious. And the top-level staff know the meaning of discreet. 12/F, Bank St, Old Bank of China Bldg, Central, 2501 0222. $1,000.

Grissini
The design concept of this modern restaurant is stylish New York, and you’ll feel like you’re in the Big Apple as soon as you step into the welcoming aroma of breadsticks. Signature dishes include the Sardinian artichokes and Parmigiano salad and the Mediterranean deep water sea bass with potatoes, cherry tomatoes, capers and black olives. Italian-born Chef Marco Torre prides himself on using the freshest ingredients without all that “fussy presentation”. Grand Hyatt, 1 Harbour Rd, Wan Chai, 2584 7722. $800.

Inagiku
Long known for their authentic and top quality cuisine, the dim setting here resembles that of an Edo-period Japan. Sit in one of four private dining rooms, each with a teppanyaki bar, or in the open kitchen area where you can watch the chefs work their magic. The tempura is famous, and other classics include teppanyaki, kaiseki, and of course, sushi and sashimi. Private dining rooms are also available for meetings. 4/F, 8 Finance St, Central, 2805 0600. $1,000.

Joia
Located next to the soon-to-be-completed ICC building, this classic white table linen at this two-story Italian eatery provides a chill and more intimate atmosphere for you and your colleagues, with the second floor situated on Elements’ rooftop garden. Lunch sets come with a salad, entrée and coffee. Try the classics – spaghetti alla carbonara or pizza margherita – or the rack of pork with roasted potato and spinach. Tea sets are also available in the late afternoon. Shop 2061A, Level 2, Elements Mall, 1 Austin Rd West, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2382 2323. $500.

Lawry’s The Prime Rib
While the Hong Kong branch launched only two years ago, this diner has its roots as a family restaurant in 1938 Beverly Hills. It’s best to visit when you’re craving USDA certified prime beef, which we give a grade of A+. Quality beef carved right by your table on a silver cart is their trademark. Set lunches include lobster bisque and a nice chunk of meat. 33 Hysan Ave, Causeway Bay, 2907 2218. $600.

Mandarin Grill
The sunlit dining room and spacious seating paired with the low background music and open kitchen provide the perfect atmosphere for a formal business meeting. The menu highlights include raw hamachi and salmon as well as lobster caviar. Mandarin Oriental, 5 Connaught Rd, Central, 2825 4004. $488/person for two-course lunch; $588/person for three-course lunch.

Cepage
This is the Swire president’s personal lunch room. The tables are kept far enough apart so business can be conducted properly and their truly outstanding wine cellar certainly seals the deal. There are private rooms for private affairs and staff who understand discretion. 23 Wing Fung St, Wan Chai, 2861 3130; www.lesamis.com.sg. $1,000.

Ye Shanghai
The Peking duck in all its glory is a must-try here. The mixture of traditional and modern décor in this restaurant creates a slightly more casual ambience for dining with co-workers. Also worth a try are the drunken chicken and Shanghainese siu mai. 6/F, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, 3 Canton Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2376 3322. $600.

Zuma
Situated amid the bustling financial district, this contemporary dining room serves traditional Japanese food in a luxurious fashion. The thinly sliced sea bass sashimi with yuzu sauce and ikura offers a pleasant combination, while hot food fans can go for the yakitori skewers or wagyu rib eye. 5/F, The Landmark, 15 Queen’s Rd Central, Central, 3657 6388. $900.
