Winner

Tak Lung Restaurant

Dishes modern Chinese kitchens think are too outdated are resurrected here at Tak Lung. Your dining check list: ‘gold coin chicken’ (金錢雞), ‘stuffed goose feet’ buns (鴨腳包), crab organ congee (台山焗蟹缽), and fish stock poached pomelo skins in shrimp roe sauce (蝦籽柚皮). Meal for two: around $250. G/F, 25-29 Hong Keung St, San Po Kong, 2320 7020.

Almost famous

Hakkan cuisine never tasted more authentic than at Siu Shun Village Cuisine (and they have crocodile turtles!). 7/F, MegaBox, 38 Wang Chiu Rd, Kowloon Bay, 2798 9738.

And you needn’t to go to Sai Kung or Lamma for fresh seafood when Harbour Restaurant is equally yum. G/F, Grand Fortune Mansion, 1 Davis St, Kennedy Town, 2818 0101.

Reader’s choice

A tie! Ming Court is super popular with the platinum card crowd. Langham Place Hotel, 555 Shanghai St, Mong Kok, 3532 3888. Yung Kee is beyond legendary, and so is their roast goose. 32-40 Wellington St, Central, 2522 1624.
