Time Out Hong Kong Dining Awards 2009: Burger
We’ve had our fill of Wagyu burgers, emu burgers, foie gras burgers and any other luxury item you can grind and stuff between buns. This is far from the most luxurious burger one can buy, but it’s an endearingly honest one made of freshly ground beef, sesame bun, and a smear of mayo and ketchup. And that’s it folks. This is one tasty burger, fried to order, with your choice of toppings if you should so choose to adorn this fine object of simplicity on a bun. $18 and up. 254-280 Electric Rd, Fortress Hill, 3520 2012.
Fat Burger might be a massive American chain that’s crossed the Pacific, but their special sauce makes this one addictive burger. QRE Plaza, 202 Queens Rd East, Wan Chai, 2891 8855.
McSorley’s get a nod for their year-long international burger promotion, and for producing a damn good (and messy) burger. 55 Elgin St, Soho, 2522 2646.
Home-grown chain Shake’em Buns has done well for itself since it first opened three years ago. Citywide.
