Hong Kong's best bars: Sports bars

Posted:

Amici
Wan Chai isn’t short of sports bars, but Amici is top of the league for its winning combination of ample screens, good food, comfy red-leather couches, and great atmosphere. With five beers (and one cider) on tap, two-for-one bottled beers during their looooong happy hour, and some of the best pizzas in town, it’s easy to see why various football supporters’ clubs (including Liverpool, Rangers and Scotland) have made Amici their base… and why you’ll see more than a few former players hanging out here come the Soccer Sevens in May. 1/F, 83 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, 2866 1918; www.amicihk.com. H/H noon-9pm.

Innside Out
The popularity of this bar is simply explained – it features everything it takes to make a man happy: beer, sports and the great outdoors. Straddled by its two indoor American style bars, the open-air courtyard is one of the few outdoor places in the city to watch the big game. With an extensive list of brews from Belgium, the US and the UK, as well as the locally produced Aldrich Bay Pale Ale and Too Soo Brew, one of your biggest dilemmas will be choosing which beer to enjoy with the endless supply on peanuts on offer. 10 Hysan Avenue, Causeway Bay, 2895 2900, www.elgrande.com.hk. H/H 2.30pm-8.30pm.

Chill Out Sports Bar
Bucking the trend of the enormous, sprawling sports bar, Chill Out’s tiny Staunton Street location would be simple enough to miss if it weren’t for its enormous Korean Fried Chicken ads pointing the way to its entrance (grab a plate while you’re here – it’s just about the most authentic K-Town chicken in Hong Kong). Long and narrow, with sports memorabilia-coated walls, the beauty of Chill Out is in its screens: three intelligently placed plasmas, meaning that wherever you are in the bar, you get a crystal clear view of the big game. Not to mention that they often have three different EPL games going at the same time. G/F, 31 Staunton St, Soho, 2869 6555.H/H 4pm-9pm.

  • This is probably the only place that can show three different matches at once. Also it's cosy with nice staff and the chicken is amazing. Good place to meet and make friends
