Big Bite, The chefs’ choice

Posted: 21 Oct 2008

Sound out of the way? We hear plenty of chefs travel to North Point just to eat these tasty treats. Naturally, we had to try it for ourselves. We went for their Classic Burger ($42) which is so big it’s hard to bite, hence the name. It comes in a floury Kaiser roll – a first in Hong Kong – and its lightly spiced beef patty came with red onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a mish-mash of sauces that we guessed were chilli-garlic, mayo and Thousand Island.

What our tasters said: “Tastes a bit like spicy meatloaf... Does this have breadcrumb filler?... Good sauce... spicy, tangy and surprising – it makes the burger... But is spice enough to carry a burger?... This is my favourite roll, like the kind you get in Europe... fresh and soft, but with a bounce after each bite...”

Meat: 6/10
Bun:
10/10
Toppings: 10/10
Value: 6/10
Overall:
7.5/10  The patty certainly wasn’t one of the best we tried, but the bun and sauces elevated it to new heights. Very memorable – we can see why chefs flock here.
