Time Out staff reveal the ten best take-out burgers in town
We love burgers no matter what form they take (well, almost – we draw the line at Disneyland’s char siu abomination), but sometimes there’s no substitute for a classic burger in all its simple, barely adorned glory. And we’re not talking about the kind you get in a bar, steakhouse or other more upmarket establishments. We mean the grease-dripping, paper-wrapped, take-away burger that enlivens your al desko lunch, makes dinner-on-the-run a peculiar pleasure, and places a soothing hand across your alcohol-saturated belly at the end of a night on the razz.
But with so many burger joints popping up around town lately, the agony of choice has never been greater. That’s why we’ve scoured the city, with no regard for our waistlines, complexions or easily stained clothing, to compile this list of Hong Kong’s greatest grab ‘n’ go hamburgers. Our Time Out tasting panel kept it simple, going for the basic burger in each house style, and applying a lifetime of burger eating experience to assess them on the essential qualities of bun, meat, toppings, and value to arrive at the overall score. We ate a lot of burgers. These were our top ten.
