Your guide to nightclubs and bars in Hong Kong
Hallelujah, gospel house at dragon-i? For all you atheists, don’t cringe just yet – it’s pretty much a fancy term for soulful house, except it has more inspiring lyrics and is spun by a DJ who considers himself a follower of the big guy in the sky. DJ Disciple has serious cred in NYC and around the UK. In the past decade, the Brooklyn native has played about 50 UK clubs every year – that’s more than any other American DJ. With chart toppers such as Rise Up, Work It Out, and Caught Up – a track that hit number one on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts – he’s had DJs such as Roger Sanchez and Erick Morillo pumping out his tracks for the masses. His no-brainer lyrics – “If you believe in me/ and I believe in you/ we could work it out” – have filled clubs worldwide, and Ibiza can’t seem to get enough of the heaven-sent music man: Work it Out in particular has enjoyed heavy play on the island (home to the aptly named Godskitchen club). Bring your dancing shoes ready to worship, but don’t expect any Praise-the-Lord shout-outs (we hope).
