Just when you thought the summer’s beach parties were all over, Yom Events brings you Breakthru, a Big Wave Bay beach party in Shek O. Breakthru is supposed to jumpstart a series of open-to-all beach bashes.
Besides random impromptu get-togethers, these past few months have lacked in sponsored beach parties compared to previous years. Missing this year, for instance, was the Heineken Splash beach party, but venues such as Volar and Beijing Club still hosted junk trips that were memorable to those lucky enough to be members. And with South Bay sessions coming to an end in October because of government-instigated venue upgrades, Yom Events’ mini beach festival is a welcome excuse to hit the sand. The organisers are also encouraging local artists and performers to showcase their talents at the event, which focuses on green awareness (let’s hope the drunks remember to recycle their beer cans).
Acts lined up include DJs AKW, Christian, Michael Langton, and Collo (UK) spinning break beats from dusk till dawn. Fire spinners are also scheduled to perform into the night, and an all-you-can-drink offer for $290 is sure to hold some appeal, too. If all goes well, the organisers will host more beach fests, leading up to a grand blowout scheduled around Earth Day 2009.
