Time Out Podcast: Episode 53
In our final pod of the year, we say goodbye to Hong Kong indie rock stalwarts and say hello to a promising local debut album as well as some electronics from Western Australia and some experimental dub from the UK. We’re starting to gather tracks for 2012, so if you’d like to appear on the Time Out Podcast next year, email mark.tjhung@timeout.com.hk with your tracks. Presented by Sean Hocking from Metal Postcard Records.
False Alarm Bloodlove

It’s your final chance to see the chaotic, shambolic and brilliant mess that is False Alarm live when they play their last ever gig at Hidden Agenda on December 17. The noisy indie rockers also release their third album, Theworldissofuckingunited, which includes this crafted, layered number that builds in typical FA fashion.

The ever-promising Modern Children – occasionally called Hong Kong’s Arcade Fire – have just released their own iPhone app and will be following up with their debut self-titled album in December, which will be available by free download. Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect – some crisp production on their slow-building ballad, Star Train. And look out for our interview with the band early next year.

Steve Mason & Dennis Bovell Dub Outside (From Ghosts Outside Album)
Steve Mason, formerly the lead singer of the Beta Band, released his much acclaimed Boys Outside solo album last year. He’s now teamed up with Dennis Bovell, a one-time member of the UK 70s reggae act Matumbi, to transform the electro-soul of the album into a warm, bass-drenched dub affair.
