Jacky Cheung vs Aaron Kwok

Posted:

The artists famously dubbed the Four Heavenly Kings of Cantopop have been hitting the stage a lot lately and, in the next few weeks, Aaron Kwok and Jacky Cheung are jumping on the Kingwagon. Almost 20 years after the Heavenly King heyday, we check out which of the two has still got what it takes to rule...

The Moves
Though Jacky Cheung has improved with his classy ballroom waltz number, Kwok remains supreme. His military techno dance moves in 1996’s Sing this Song will be forever etched into HK dance history and it’s still hard to think of anyone who compares to his intricate moves and high energy twirls. Advantage Kwok.

The Voice
Of the Heavenly Kings, Jacky Cheung has the most heavenly voice, not like a sultry angel but a bolt-throwing deity. He reaches the high notes, powers out the loud ones, all with a distinctive style that many try to emulate and parody. Cheung wins.

The Looks
In 2006, when Kwok bared it all in Leslie Kee’s SuperStars album, visual orgasms swept through Asia. He might be going on 47, but it’s safe to say that Kwok was blessed in many ways. Tanned, handsome, and a body carved by the heavens – the Physical Fitness posters around the city more than attest to this.

The Presence
Both Kings’ reign over different parts of the kingdom. Kwok has an amazing stage presence and confidence that emanates through his choreography, while Cheung draws the audience in with his stunning voice. Take your pick, but without a doubt, both men represent Hong Kong well. Arthur Tam
