Time Out Podcast: Episode 15
Metal, sheng, Chinese brit-pop, and some awesome dub: Metal Postcard’s Sean Hocking dials up a musical smorgasbord spanning Hong Kong, China and the UK. Drop your tracks at drop.io/timeouthk if you want to be considered for the pod.
DP City of Zeros
www.myspace.com/dpmetalheads
Deafening, intense metal from our city’s hairiest exponents. Here’s a sneak peak of what to expect from their debut album later this year. You can also catch them at Time Out’s Big Night Out at Grappa’s Cellar on Saturday 24. See Feature.
Siu2 Konfusion
www.flowermusic.hk
Meshing traditional Chinese, jazz, experimental electronica, and classical into their music, this ensemble’s fusion of sounds embodies our city. They play City Hall on Friday 16 and Saturday 17. This is the title track from their new EP Konfusion. See Preview.
Duck Fight Goose Theme

It seems Shanghai outfit Duck Fight Goose have been listening to a lot of end-of-career Blur. While it’s all rather rough and ready, there’s a certain charm to these guys.
Sonnet Stupid Baby
www.douban.com/artist/sonnet
It must be Blur week in Shanghai. Here’s another band who have the entire Damon/Graham oeuvre in their heads. If it’s any help, they call their sound “Disco Garage Post-Punk” which captures it perfectly.
Rusko Woo Boost
www.myspace.com/ruskonfire
Rusko is London’s new big sound dubstep boy. Diplo’s Mad Decent label has just signed him up and the bassline on this track is almost bigger than Skream’s La Roux remix last year. His MySpace describes him as a “human bass tornado.” This tune makes us happy here at Metal Postcard HQ.
