Poubelle International The Gun
www.poubelleinternational.com
After the release of their debut EP Avec La Boom last month, Poubelle has been firmly placed at the top of Hong Kong’s Indieratti. The more we listen to them, the more they sound like The Strokes would have sounded if they’d grown up in Melbourne.
Yu Guo Spring Morning
www.myspace.com/yuguo
Mainland outfit Yu Guo’s bright and breezy pop is well produced, not overly saccharine, and manages to show a rather dab hand at incorporating recognisable Chinese elements into their strain of indiepop.
Unixx Black Shadow (Alok Remix)
www.myspace.com/unixxunion
These guys list as their influences post-punk, psychedelia, shoegaze and gothic rock and will be showcasing their recent album 7 Deadly Sins on the Mainland until June.
Loose Fit Mrs Robinson (re-Edit)
www.myspace.com/loosefitmusic
This new UK outfit are going to be huge. Influenced by both the glorious Factory Records and easy listening classics, they make dance-like pop that manages to sound like the Happy Mondays, the best of house and MGMT all at the same time.
Alan Morse Davies The Sontaran Experiment in the Style of Jóhann Jóhannsson
www.at-sea.com
We featured Davies’ work in our last podcast and the feedback has been so good we thought we’d finish with another. Ninety-nine per cent of “ambient music” gives the genre a bad name, but Davies actually bothers to compose his pieces.
