F.T.T.

Posted: 1 Feb 2010

The world of music is sometimes a cruel place, as much about doing the hard yards and having the tunes as it is about being in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately for F.T.T., they haven’t quite mastered the art of timing and togetherness. In the nicest possible way, that is.

Somehow, the four-piece indie rockers of ‘Fourteen Twenty Two’ have contrived to make this fortnight’s Underground both a reunion and a farewell gig. After being on indefinite hiatus since September 2008, when guitarist Jonathan prioritised overseas study ahead of music, F.T.T. were granted a new lease of life when he returned to Hong Kong late last year. A permanent reunion looked on the cards. That is, until drummer Edmund decided to put education above F.T.T.’s rocking existence as well.

Perhaps it’s not meant to be for the band that started up in 2002. But on the upside, at least they get a farewell gig. F.T.T. return for one night only, the single opportunity to catch their high energy Brit-pop tunes penned by frontman Po Kei, inflected with disparate elements such as Edmund’s classical background and bassist Donald’s more metallic inclinations. With all F.T.T.’s members in the same room at the same time, it’ll be the rarest of occasions.

F.T.T. plays Underground 93 on Sat 6. Tickets: 9486 4648.
