Andrew Bird Anonanimal
www.andrewbird.net
The masterful, cultured one-man show of Andrew Bird is a must-see this fortnight, as he constructs his crafted, violin-caressing, whistling-featuring chamber pop. This track is from the Chicago man’s most recent album, Noble Beast. He’ll be playing Grappa’s Cellar on Wednesday 27.

Live Fast Die! Not Going Out
www.myspace.com/livefastdiehk
This wild, tattoo-inspired five-piece has become a regular on our scene, with their energetic, drunken bluesy punk rock. They’ll be playing Underground 92 at Rockschool on Friday 22. This track is from their demo EP Holy Rollin’ Hard On, which is available online at the band’s Facebook page.

FAD Salamander
www.myspace.com/fadhk
Hong Kong indie outfit FAD have been playing around the traps for a while now. The boys are all locals and love to wear black. Their MySpace lists Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Muse, Placebo and The Jesus and Mary Chain among their major influences, although we also hear a little Coldplay and Travis in their sound.

Hungry Ghosts Chinese Families
www.myspace.com/hungryghostshk
Headed up by Luke Chow, this Hong Kong group has been getting good live reviews over the past year and it’s great to see Chow using themes close to home. He cites his influences as Death Cab for Cutie, Minus the Bear and CSS. They’ll be supporting Saosin at Grappa’s Cellar on Saturday 23.

Louis Inglis Building Blocks
www.myspace.com/louisinglis
This song from the Perth-based Inglis is quite magical. He’s one of those rare artists that possess a truly unique sound – yet again another new artist from Perth with a quiet melancholy that we just don’t hear enough of these days. His debut 12” EP is due soon on Metal Postcard imprint 12 Apostles records.
