Mika
He’s got a girl’s name, sounds eerily like Freddie Mercury, fills his music with thinly-veiled double entendres, bounces around his bedroom in his underwear like a seven-year-old, and when he is wearing clothes, it’s invariably in violently fluorescent colour. We’re clearly talking about Mika, the chart-storming pop phenomenon who’s armed with a ridiculous vocal range – one that puts many a keyboard to shame – and whose eccentric pop songs have been lapped up by the masses. If you didn’t know, he’s just released a new album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much, which sees the Lebanese-born singer continuing on his flamboyant ways (and even upping the falsetto ante with his just-released second single Rain). Given that all he does in his videos is bounce crazily around the screen, his sold out Hong Kong show is likely to be a firework-laden Technicolor extravaganza. He’ll probably do Grace Kelly as an encore too. What more do you really need to know?
