Where can you find the hottest acts washing up in our harbour, as well as the best in local and regional music? The Time Out Hong Kong Podcast, clearly. Presented by Sean Hocking from Metal Postcard Records, here’s what you’ll hear this fortnight:

Snoblind Intro and Outro
www.snoblind.com
This duo are arguably Hong Kong’s electronic granddaddies. They remind us of that lost age of late nineties downtempo electronica but with all the dodgy bits thrown to the wind. Their blend of technology and live instrumentation delivers a range of styles, from street tough, bass heavy hiphop to swirling ambient soundscape. These tracks are from their recent release Phantom Cartography.

S.T. Lottery Players v Games Console People
www.st-saiho.com
Fabulous Hong Kong-based electronic artist who we named in our Top 20 musicians in HK last year. S.T. has been around for a number of years. This track is from his just released debut album Weird Mind, and we’re addicted.

8 Bit Boy Baltic Pine
www.myspace.com/boy8bit
On his myspace, the UK-based 8 Bit Boy says “I am a young man who makes records on his computer.” His remix portfolio includes mixes for Armand van Helden, London grime star Letahl Bizzle and Mika.

Swoop Swoop For Real
www.myspace.com/streakyjake
This Perth-based singer-songwriter has been compared to Devendra Banhart, Bon Iver and Bruce Springsteen and is about to release his third album on Metal Postcard. This song is taken from his second album Somewhere in the Shadows.

Yacht Summer Song
www.myspace.com/yacht
Portland’s Yacht have recently been picked up by NYC’s DFA Records. When the New Yorker says “Their music is artisanal cotton candy: one part Tom Tom Club, one part Yoko Ono,” you know you are onto something good. They’re playing Clockenflap on November 7 & 8.
