Gary Chaw: Welcome to My World

Posted: 1 Feb 2010

Apparently, Gary Chaw lives in a weird world, where the soundtrack is always set to saccharine pop and limbs fly akimbo into impromptu karate chops. The Malaysian-born Taiwanese pop balladeer makes an appearance in Macau as part of his pan-Asian “Welcome to My World” tour, for which he sings his many pop hits and also gives a martial arts display.

While now a bona fide Asian megastar, Chaw is a relative newcomer to the Taiwanese pop world. His big break came in 2006 when he won Hong Kong TVB’s Newcomer Singer Award. He’s released three albums since, each of which reached number one on the Taiwanese G-Music Chart. More than just a singer cum karate-kicker, Chaw is also a talented songwriter, having written hits for many of Asia’s biggest names, including A-Mei, Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok and S.H.E. Book your tickets in advance for this multi-talent – he tends to sell out.
