Macau Open

Posted:

For the 12th straight year, the Macau Open will give some of the world’s best players the opportunity to battle it out on the golf course. Leading the elites this year are David Gleeson, last year’s champion from Australia who set a tournament record of 18-under-par 266, and Zhang Lianwei, former two-time champion from China, and a five-time winner of the Asian Tour. Both champions are fond of the former Portuguese colony.

Zhang says Macau is like a second home to him, and Gleeson, who was recently in Macau for a family vacation, took a swing at the golf course several times. Other contenders include former Macau Open champions Wang Ter-chang and Lu Wen-teh of Taiwan, America’s Jason Knutzon and Australia’s Kane Webber. The tournament, organised by the Macau Sports Development Board, will be held again at the Macau Golf and Country Club as part of the Asian Tour, with the winner receiving over $3.8 million in prize money.
