Mr. Gay Hong Kong 2010

Posted:

Nestled between the annual Floatilla and the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival is the second Mr. Gay Hong Kong pageant. After making a fabulous splash in the pageant world, placing second runner up in Oslo’s Mr. Gay World, not to mention scooping up Best National Costume, a tied-win for Mr. Congeniality, and second place in the online vote, reigning king Rick Twombley has set the bar, and it’s high. This year’s winner will not only have a chance to top Twombley’s achievements at Mr. Gay World 2011 in Manila but will also assume ambassadorship of the Hong Kong gay community and act as a global spokesman for equality for one year.

The public also has a say in who will be crowned the most gorgeous in the land with an online voting platform that will remain open until November 26. You can cast your vote at www.mrgayhongkong.com.
Under the banner: ‘There’s more than one way to be man’ organisers MAN Asia Productions are getting ready for a stellar show that’s set to get the whole town talking. This year’s event is also aimed at assisting the TCJM campaign against homophobic bullying in schools.

With six throne-worthy contestants preparing themselves for a nail-biting night on the stage it’s time for the public to pick their man and stand by him. The curtains will open for the grand finale on November 26 at 7pm at the ever swanky Hyde members club in Central. Tickets are $300 at the door but early-bird priced tickets can be picked up at Paul Gerrard’s Salon (1/F & 2/F, Wah Hing House, 35 Pottinger St) or T:ME Bar (B/F, 65 Hollywood Rd). Sarah Simpson
