Best of 2009: Best Festival
Wine & Dine Festival West Kowloon Waterfront October 30-November 1
Who knew we had such a cool, accessible (and under-used) harbour-side venue complete with grass? Set below the ICC on the site of the West Kowloon Cultural District, the first ever Wine & Dine Festival put the location on the radar with hundreds of international wine stalls, great food, live music, light shows and more than 40,000 people through the gates. Bravo.
Honourable Mention: Clockenflap Cyberport, November 7-8
With top international music acts Blood Red Shoes, YACHT, and Clive Chin direct from Jamaica, the Clockenflap music and multimedia arts festival proved Hong Kong can sustain a quality – and indie – festival over two days. Bigger and better than the first iteration in January 2008, Clockenflap is set for even more success in the years to come. A definite win.
