Shit, shit, and more shit. Anyone who employs a personal shopper (excuse me, "shopping consultant") needs to consider their priorities.
Lai Oi-lin, I think your comment is incredibly small-minded and strikes me as being not very well though out. Image is incredibly important to all of us. Yes, yourself included. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are all judged positively or negatively by our "look" when we encounter new people. Individuals who seek a personal shopper such as myself, have many reasons for doing so including lack of available time or a dislike of traditional shopping. They have however, all decided that they want to portray an appropriate image to their station in life, which I think most people aspire to without necessarily vocalizing it. In this sense, they have considered their priorities carefully and have elected to make sure that they are sending out a positive image, making smart attire choices, and saving themselves valuable time.
Aren't we defined by the personal choices we make? Shouldn't our "image" as LaClaire calls it be an outward expression of our choices and tastes. Is it not worng to have someone else make these very personal decisions for you? Or are we all just walking racks for someone to drape fine cloths over us so we will be "accepted"? I find that a very sad point of view. I would like to distance myself from LaClaire's assertion that we are all as image conscious (some would say vain) as she/he is. This is exactly what is wrong with so much of HK it is all about image and the people who are so image conscious are usually the onese with little or no substance when it comes to actual conversation or personality. I am sorry but I have to agree with Lai Oi-Lin...get your own style and flair, don't pay for it.
