Outlook Festival Launch Party
This August in Pula, Croatia, there’s a little bass music festival which has captured the attention of some of the world’s top acts in the genre – think Skream, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Kode 9. The Outlook Festival is like a Spring Break-style, four-day underground music party in an abandoned Austrian castle – the closest thing we can imagine to dubstep heaven.
But if you can’t make it to Pula for Outlook 2012, fret not. Hong Kong is going to have its own taste in the form of a heavy-duty launch party at the bunker-style venue XXX in Sheung Wan, thanks to local drum ‘n’ bass promoters Magnetic Soul. At the top of the lineup is Leeds-based DJ Ant TC1, who is also at the helm of Dispatch Records as their label manager. Ant has been bringing quality bass to Leeds clubbers for over nine years, through monthly night Momentum, and keeping dub heads bobbing with his deep, experimental drum ‘n’ bass beats. Also working the decks are local DJ Blood Dunza of Heavy HK, DJ Low from Malaysia’s Loops Collective as well as Saiyan, N1D and Teem. VJ Ocular will be pumping out some visual eye-candy with MC Rebearth serving up rhymes.
Two lucky bass heads who attend the launch party will win tickets to the Outlook Festival proper. But if you’re truly hooked on drum ’n’ bass vibes after this gig, you might find it worthwhile to head to Croatia to experience the Outlook Festival in person.
