Emma Hewitt & Ronski Speed
The W Hotel seems to have its finger right on the beating pulse of global club music, as evidenced by its expertly-curated iPhone app which streams dance tunes 24/7. And its upcoming club night at the W Hong Kong’s Living Room is no exception. The hotel is pairing trance music’s newest vocal darling Emma Hewitt with German veteran of the genre, Ronski Speed, for a set that’s likely to induce just the transporting, heart-thumping feelings that trance fans crave.
The Aussie-born Hewitt launched her exultant singer-songwriter career in 2007 with the release of her first dance single, Carry Me Away, a collaboration with British DJ Chris Lake that quickly climbed its way up the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay charts and stayed there for 50 weeks, eventually hitting number one (and knocking off Britney Spears’ Toxic in the process.) Pete Tong trumpeted the song on his radio show and Tiësto called it ‘the song of the summer’. Since then, Hewitt has been the voice of many-a trance song, jumping from collaboration to collaboration alongside all the biggest names in electronic music – like Dash Berlin, Cosmic Gate and Gareth Emery. There’s something about her dark and dreamy crooning that makes trance fans worldwide go weak in the knees and wild on the floor.
Her recent collaboration with Ronski Speed, Lasting Light, marks Hewitt’s latest big success in the dance-vocals arena. She has recently performed to happy crowds around the world, alongside the likes of Empire of the Sun, LMFAO, Skrillex, Kid Cudi and Nero. But this will be the first time that Hong Kong-based fans have the chance to lose themselves in her live presence.
