Hype Nasty
Last year’s best regular club night makes it two in a row. With Enso, Kid Fresh, Miss Yellow and Yao pulling the strings, this monthly shindig at Volar has been proud to host myriad artists from around the globe (including Nick Catchdubs, Kamikaze, Zombie Nation, Sound Pellegrino) as well as letting loose all things electro.
Runner-up: Techno? Yumla
Cutting-edge house and techno among a savvy and like-minded crowd at the titular club – every single weekend. Enough said.
Honourable Mentions
The various d’n’b and dubstep nights put on by the ever-present and deeply knowledgeable Heavy and Kongkretebass crews (as well as Magnetic Soul) have been ones to savour. The organisers deserve huge props for their passion and desire for kicking the bass to us in 2010. And the likely lads of Supersonic deserve a mention for spraying their indie rock bullets all over Bassment – and getting everyone dancing.
