Pablo Ceballos

If there’s one thing you can say about Pablo Ceballos it’s that he knows how to have fun. On the opening night of their residency at New York club Cielo, Ceballos and DJing partner DJ Chus dressed up as the Indian and the policeman from the Village People. When asked by a Pacha TV reporter why they he had gone native, Ceballos quipped, “because it’s funny”. With so many of the world’s DJs being card-carrying graduates of the too-cool-for-school club, it’s refreshing to come across one that remembers that dance music is supposed to be about having a laugh.

Hailing from Madrid, Ceballos and his partner Chus have become famous for their development of what they call the “Iberican Sound” and the creation of their label Stereo Productions. The pair have been together for more than ten years and can rank remixes for artists as diverse as pop doyenne Madonna and fellow DJ pairing Deep Dish among their portfolio.

Celballos’ own offerings combine a rhythmic blend of New York tribal with European tech-house elements. The result is a deep, soulful sound that can shine a little Iberian sun on our wintery shores.
