Meet the authors

It’s time to meet authors. Well, three authors, in fact – Michelle Yu, Cameron Dueck and Pete Spurrier. The Asian American Journalists Association Hong Kong chapter is putting together a ‘Meet the Authors’ event on Tuesday, April 3. It’s a chance to find out how three journalists got their books published.

The panel includes three journalists who have been published abroad and locally in Hong Kong.

Michelle Yu is a sports reporter/anchor in New York. She wrote two novels China Dolls and Young, Restless & Broke. Based on personal experience, her books explore some of the challenges that successful female Asian-Americans face in modern day America.

Cameron Dueck is a Canadian writer, adventurer and yatchsman. His book The New Northwest Passage: A Voyage to the Front Line of Climate Change is about his voyage through Canada’s Northwest Passage, describing the climate change, political and economic challenges faced by Inuit communities, while putting the entire story in the historical context of Arctic exploration.

Pete Spurrier is a Hong Kong-based publisher and author of three hiking guidesThe Heritage Hiker’s Guide to Hong Kong, The Leisurely Hiker’s Guide to Hong Kong  and The Serious Hiker’s Guide to Hong Kong. He spends most of his time running Blacksmith Books, a niche publishing house with several local best-sellers to its name.

There will be a book sale after the event.

Where: Bisous, 9/F, LKF Tower, 33 Wyndham St, Central.

Date: Tuesday April 3.

Time: 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
