Troll 2

Watch the worst movie ever made

Are you the type of person who loves to rejoice in the stupidity of something so obviously terrible? (Think Jersey Shore, Flavor Flav, and every Nickelback song ever made). Well on Saturday May 5, there will be a one-off double screening of Troll 2, the cult classic unanimously heralded as the worst movie ever made, and Best Worst Movie, a more recent documentary made about the film, followed by an after-party where we can all celebrate the film’s awful existence.

By every conceivable measure Troll 2 is a bad film. The movie is hysterically and poorly thought out: in a strikingly stupid contrast to the title, the movie is actually about goblins, not trolls, who happen to be vegetarian, and the entire plot revolves around these vegetarian goblins attempting to turn an American family into plants so they can eat them. In addition to the superbly random premise, the American movie was written and directed by a man who is not fluent in English and hired actors with no prior experience in acting – the perfect recipe for brilliance…

Unlike new releases that are hard to tell whether they will be good or bad, at least for this screening we won’t be disappointed by our expectations. This time we know what’s coming, and we’ll be laughing at it every step of the way.
