The Luxe Manor
In terms of suitable venues for a sophisticated Halloween soirée, a luxury surrealist boutique hotel is up there with the best a Transylvanian Count can buy. All through October, you can have your trick before your treat with the delicious range of colourful cocktails at the hotel’s Dada Bar + Lounge. Then, on Halloween eve, groove down to the Graveyard Shift Live Show at Dada and enjoy a night of classic rock tunes, canapés and creepy cocktails. The Mira
This stylish Kowloon hotel has plenty planned for the ghoulish festival with a Halloween programme that kicks off on October 24. Start off with a number of specialised Fright Delights at Coco, including spooky cupcakes and pumpkin cheesecakes adorned with chocolate spiders. Coool. Then, on October 29, get intoxicated with their themed black vodka cocktails such as the Witches Brew and Black Magic at Room One.
On this bewitching night, The Mira’s alfresco garden venue Vibes will be transformed into a spookily haunted area for a fancy dress Halloween party priced, appropriately, at $666 per party of three, inclusive of drinks and snacks. The Mira, 118 Nathan Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui,

Mr. Steak Café
This beef-centric restaurant hosts a unique whiskey-themed Halloween this year. The chefs have also crafted a special booze-laden menu that includes Chivas lobster bisque and chilled seafood platter with Jack Daniel’s cocktail sauce. Aside from the food, Mr Steak Café’s bar will also be offering three creepy cocktails for the occasion, complete with vampire’s fangs adorning the glasses. Bubba Gump
Head up to themed restaurant Bubba Gump
on the October 31 for some Peak-top family fun. There’s an array of spooky drinks on offer for Halloween including the Vampires Favourite, comprising of home-made lychee jelly, bloody raspberry sauce and even some edible Dracula gummy teeth to top it all off. 208 Duecento Otto
This hip, New York-style Italian restaurant brings a sinfully sexy twist to its drinks menu this Halloween. There are six devilish concoctions on offer including The Firecracker and The Negroni Spagliato, both priced at $66 each. 208 Hollywood Rd, Sheung Wan, 2549 0208; www.208.com.hk.

The Italian eatery and watering hole will roll out a selection of Halloween sweet treats in the form of creative cocktails. Mind you, this is no half-baked attempt at a Halloween menu; they have gone all out with some great ingredients. Take The Angel for example – a sweet tipple comprised of tequila, pineapple juice, ginger, egg white, syrup, fresh lime juice and a lime wedge. Then there’s The Devil, which mixes up cherry vodka, cola, grenadine, lime juice and a fresh cherry to top it off ($78). DIY Halloween Cake Pops

Ingredients & tools
300g pound cake in any flavour
Half cup vanilla buttercream frosting
300g white chocolate
Powder or oil-based food colouring
Edible food markers
Lollipop sticks

Directions

1. Crumble the cake into a large bowl until it becomes a fine, sandy consistency.

2. Add the frosting to the cake, one tablespoon at a time, mixing well after each addition with the back of a spoon. Stop adding the frosting when the mixture becomes a moist and easily pliable consistency.

3. Roll the mixture between your palms to shape into three-centimetre balls and place them on sheets of waxed paper.

4. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave in short, 15 second bursts, or over a pot of steaming water. Be careful not to burn the chocolate!
Add colouring to the chocolate as desired.

5. Dip one end of the lollipop stick into the chocolate and insert halfway into the cake balls. Place cake balls in the freezer for around 20 minutes. Remove cake from the freezer and carefully dip in the melted chocolate, twirling the cakes to ensure an even coating. Leave the chocolate coating to dry.

6. When the chocolate is completely hardened, draw facial details with edible food markers. Frighteningly fun and tasty too.
