Best of 2010: Best Excuse for a Jaunt to Macau

The House of Dancing Water
City of Dreams, Sep 17-ongoing
Three years in the making at a much publicised cost of US$250 million, The House of Dancing Water lived up to the hype this year, opening as the Avatar of stage productions. You could say it’s the greatest piece of commercial entertainment in all of China and few would argue. The show has been sold out since its premiere in September and has already entertained over 100,000 casino-goers. Franco Dragone has yet another world-class hit on his hands – The House of Dancing Water has elevated the entertainment profile of the whole city of Macau.

Runner-up: Peaches
The Venetian Macao, April 18
Even to a half-empty hall, this sexually explosive electro-clasher put on a show full of furious energy, extravagant costumes and hand-walking antics that elevated the pre-hype gig to MIMA Rockit far above the festival itself.

Readers' Choice: House of Dancing Water
You lucky few that have scored tickets were obviously quite impressed by this mammoth aquatic production. Fair play.
