June 4th is an understandably sensitive subject, but regardless of your stance on this controversial issue, we Hongkongers should be proud that our city is the only part of China that can openly commemorate the event. Here is a list of events this fortnight commemorating the 21st anniversary of that infamous day.
The Situation of Human Rights Lawyers in China

In the last of the China in perspective June 4th lecture series, Albert Ho, chairperson of the China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group, speaks about the state of lawyers who defend human rights in China.
Demonstration to Commemorate the 21st Anniversary of June 4
Sunday, May 30
3pm, Victoria Park
Starting from the Victoria Park football field and ending at the government headquarters, the theme of this march will be to “remember,” “vindicate,” and “spread awareness” of June 4.
Candlelight Vigil for the 21st Anniversary of June 4
Friday, June 4
8pm, Victoria Park
The annual candlelight vigil drew a record turnout of 150,000 last year and looks to build on that momentum this year.
