Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh

Starhall, HITEC Oct 16-18

Hundreds of Hong Kong children (and maybe some adults too) will have their dreams come true when the Disney Live! production of Winnie the Pooh hits the Hong Kong stage for the first time. A combination of live actors and cast members costumed in giant Disneyland-style plush living doll suits will dance on stage, aided by the same production team as the extravagant Disney On Ice series.

The story is: it’s Pooh’s birthday and Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit, Roo and even little Piglet are planning a surprise birthday bash for their honey-loving friend. But little does he know, the silly bear himself has forgotten about his special day and sets off on his daily quest to find a honey goldmine.

Fear not that your little one will grow restless during the 90-minute performance; Sallie Palmieri, the show’s Performance Director assures that audiences will be entertained and engaged from start to end. “[It’s] an incredibly interactive show, a great initial theatre experience,” she says. Aside from the expected sing-a-long songs, audiences will be stretching their arms and legs when they learn Tigger’s “Whoop-Dee-Dooper” bounce.

Although this will be Pooh’s first show here, Palmeieri is convinced Hongkongers will  love it: “Audiences leave with smiles on their faces.”
