October Contemporary: Now, or Never
This major non-commercial art festival with a focus on contemporary visual arts gathers more than 100 artists in nine galleries across the city with events, exhibitions, and talks dotted throughout the month, including an outdoor installation near the site of the Kai Tak airport. Central Waterfront
Sculpture Exhibition
Giant yellow cranes, a tree-man on the grass, and various other sculptures adorn the IFC lawn towards the Star Ferry Pier as part of this public art exhibition, organised by the Central and Western District Council. IFC lawn, open weekends, Oct 10-Nov 29, 9am-6pm.
6th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival
The best of Asian cinema rolls into town with this annual event, which features a selection of more than 40 titles, including the latest works from esteemed directors Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho, and Hirokazu Koreeda. 20th Yuen Long Arts Festival
